Stand outside Blackfriars station on a weekday morning and you’ll see two very different Londons collide: barristers heading into EC4’s converted print works, and commuters streaming off the only railway platforms in London that stretch right across the Thames. It’s a tiny patch of the city. But it packs in a lot. North of the bridge, narrow lanes around Printing House Square and New Bridge Street are lined with old newspaper offices turned into flats. South of the river in SE1, glass towers with round-the-clock concierge look out over the water. Most of what we move here isn’t houses, it’s flats: split-level conversions above old chambers, ex-newspaper offices with high ceilings and awkward stairwells, and new-build towers where every delivery has to go through a booked goods lift.
